Cake Fantasy

I'm fascinated by a fruit cake photo my younger sis sent me lately. It's for my elder sis's birthday next week. I can't believe it when she told me that she bakes it!!!! However, when i come to think of it, she is pratically a "housewife" in States now...so i beg she got lots of time to improve her baking skill. I'm so proud of her. Hmmmm... when she comes back, maybe we can open a cafe or bakery...hehehe

Stuffed Apple

Me and colleagues went to Yoko's Restaurant for dinner and we found that one of their dish, the stuffed apple is quite interesting. We decided to order one for each... unfortunately they only left two apples. We actually order that 2 left over stuffed apple and shared among 20 of us... sound a bit sad rite? hahaha... After that dinner, i decided to make the same stuffed apple for my colleagues. Of course I didn't have the receipe, so I made it up lar..... Apparently it was quite successful! It taste great too... :)

The coolest driving experience I ever had

When I was in LA, I decided to rent a car to get around as the taxi fare was too expensive. It was an impromptu decision, so I didn't have international driving licience with me. Thank God they accepted my Malaysian driving licience. I took a car with GPS system.

First time driving on the left side was rather scary. When I first jumped into the car, though GPS system was very helpful, yet I can't help but kept taking the wrong turn. I turned left when I was instructed to turn right... then I was supposed to turn left, I turned the other way round.... Szu, my colleague who was sitting right beside me, though seems very cool and calm but I supposed she was having heart attack at that moment.... hehe .... To cut the story short, I finally got Ilya's apartment in one piece.  :)

One thing worth mentioning was the car that I picked had my birth date on it. When the renting procedure was done, I was asked to go one of their parking bay and choose the car I want. They car keys are all in the car and ready to go. At first I wanted to take the silver one, but then the yellow one attracted me. So I picked it without even looking at the car number. It was when I got back home and look at the pictures then only I found out it has my birth date on it. Kewl eh?

Well, it was an exciting experience driving  in LA after all.

Ice Cream

Busy schedule and tight datelines are driving me crazy lately. Because of stress, I almost broke into tears in front of the monitor. I know I need to do something to cheer myself up . Someone says  ice creams or chocolates can make us feel happy. So I decided to go and pick up some ice cream from  Haagen Dazs. Ha!!! It works!!!!  I feel so much better after taking it.

Then i went to Kinokuniya and pick up an awesome storybook for Heu Yie. It's full of pop-up arts and I love it so much. Since it's hard to let words alone describe its greatness, I would let the pictures speak for themselves.

me, myself and Lynette

Had a terrible weekend last week. First I had eye infection cause by the contact lens I wore, then I had red-hot oil spilled over my neck. I was deeply in pain therefore I couldn't help but to allow anxiety and bitterness conquered my heart for a while. I felt unlucky.  I even wondered if God ever loves me. If HE does, why would HE allows circumstances happen in my life..... Then I realise God is trying to teach me that , to be loved, I have to first learn to love myself.

Christmas Charity Party

This year, christmas brings a different meaning to me. Instead of a whole nite party thingie as usual, we had a charity party at the office. Our target was to raise RM15 k for Taman Megah's Handicapped Child Center. U know why is it so special?? cause it's the very first charity party in the industry... as i was told.

We spent sleepless nites doing the decoration and set up a mini art gallery... and the outcome was more than my satisfaction level. Oh yah, the art pieces contributed by our staff were great~~~~ now only i know we have a lot hidden talents around.

We had amazing bands from the best audio houses in the town.... we had an awesome christmas carol team from Fa La La.... we also had great performances from No Black Tie.  Fantastic music filled the air through out the nite. Besides that, we had flea market, art pieces for sale at our very own art gallery and art auction too. The most exciting news was we managed to raise RM30k at the end of the nite!!!!! ho ho ho.......

Party banner goes well with Moon's expensive sculpture.

Are You Living Or Just Existing?

Lately, the feeling of life is meaningless getting stronger. Besides working and attending classes, there's nothing much that i could look forward to. I wonder why.

Finally, Ps.Benny Ong gave me the answer over his message. His questions "are u living or just existing?" simply awaken me. A lot of ppl in this world could have just existing, and not truly living. Those who are living are those who live physically and spiritually. It would be a waste if we are living physically and yet do not experience the joy from within. Though i'm a believer, yet I have my moment of spiritual dry out. No wonder I see life meaningless.....

Hua Hin - Bangkok Trip

I bet a lot of ppl have not heard of Hua Hin before. It's a beach located at the south of Bangkok. Once we arrived in Bangkok new airport, the Suvarnabhumi airport, we took 4 hours ride in the bus to reach our destination, Hyatt Regency Hua Hin. The beach is slightly better than our Cherating Beach, but the resort itself was fabulous! We could spend the whole day just to have fun in the resort itself.

On the third day of our trip, we travelled back to Bangkok. There, we stayed in Novetel Siam Square which is located in the middle of the town. The best thing is it's located directly opposite the newly launched Siam Paragon Shopping Center, which is the biggest shopping mall in Asia. Too bad, I had only spent 15mins in the mall itself as there's a lot more attractions in Bangkok. Of course before I left, I managed to grab a pork burger from McD...hehehe

The power of PINK!

There's a few memorable incidents that worth highlight here are:

i. the missing baggage

Upon our arrival at bangkok airport, those who check-in their bag ealier went and claimed their baggage. As everybody had got their baggages, poor Amnah still checking bag by bag seeking for her baggage. She found out later that her baggage was still in KLIA. The airport crew promised to deliver her baggage to Hyatt Hua Hin as soon as it arrived Bangkok airport. To our surprise, Amnah's baggage arrived Hua Hin way before we arrived. We're told that her baggage was delivered by helicopter from Bangkok airport. I was thinking it would be nice if I myself got delivered by helicopter too. Then I didn't have to spent 4 hrs rock n roll on the road.

ii. the "lao sai" gang

We had seafood for dinner the first day at a mamak liked stall along the seaside. Soon after that, a lot of ppl from our group had diarrhoea on the second day. The number of ppl getting sick increased on the following day. Some were very "lucky" as they only had diarrhoea when we got back to KL.

iii. No juices at Beer Garden!

We dined in Beer Garden in Bangkok on the 3rd day. The Beer Garden is a darn happening place. The enviroment was something like Hard Rock but it was way greater! There was nice live perfomance with ultimate moulin rouge feel. The guys got lectured from Moon as all of them ordered fruit juice instead of beer.

performance at Beer Garden

iv. waterBoy

Ah Boy felt in to the fountain as he was taking pictures while walking on the park right outside the Siam Paragon Shopping Center. For a second, everyone's attention was on him!!! how embarrass~~~ The sad thing was his smartphone and digicam were gone.

you're so wet~

Church Camp,15 - 17 Sept

I went to church's young adult camp held in Eagle Ranch, Port Dickson over the weekend. It is a beautiful place and is definitely great get away from work. For those who didn't make it, u missed out a lot, u know? hehehe....

Instead of staying in the dormitory, i chose to stay in a tepee with Lynette Chiew. It's simply because i would prefer to have my own space, which in another term known as "anti social". It's a marvellous experience staying in a tepee, especially the bath room which to me, is an eye-opening experience. You may think that i'm quite conservative, but i gotta admit that i'm so not used to the open air bathroom. I felt quite insecure to shower right under the sky, whereby if i were a little taller, i might see the outside on tiptoe.

The tepee

Open air bath room

Me, Lynette Chiew and Alex Choong were so blur throughout the camp. Me and Lynette Chiew(neither of us has a program list with us... hehehe)somehow knew there was a devotion time written on the program list for the very early morning the first day. But since nobody in the camp mentioned anything bout it, we both assume that as a personal devotion.... so we slept thru the first morning. When we found out that the devotion was actually held in a meeting hall called HorseShoe, the meeting was over.

Okay, let's talk bout something exciting! We, in a group of 15 were instructed to build our own raft out of 12 sticks of bamboo, strings and 4 drums. As soon as the raft was ready, we rafted out to the sea to get a flag. The total journey was about 1km. I myself who can't swim at all, joined them on the raft out to the sea. Instead of feeling great fear on the sea, i felt fun to sit on the raft, cheering for my team members who were paddling very hard to reach the target. Tell u what, we were the first team to get back to the shore with our flag. Yay!!!!!

All this while I thought I'm very lucky as I don't have to go thru national service that implemented years after my teenage time. However, I didn't manage to escape from the obstacle course in the camp. I had bad times and good times throughout the obstacle course. I suffered most when climbing over the 6ft and 8ft wall, and doing the tarzan swing. Guess what? I fell into a pool of mud as i failed to swing across it during the tarzan swing.... :~( I enjoyed most when my team members carried me to finish the monkey bar item, as i had lost my arm strength after falling into from the tarzan swing. All i did was simply touched the steel bars from one to another over my head without using any strength.

Throughout the camp i kept applying sunblock, simply to avoid getting tanned as my sis's wedding is just 2 weeks ahead. But the more i tried to avoid, the more i got it. After the obstacle course, i found blue black all over my body especially on the knee, arms and tummy. Now my whole body is aching like mad as if the bones are falling apart.

the blue blacks

Of course, besides all the activities, the words shared by Pastor Dennis were very enlightening too. I love the part where he described most of the brothers as "kayu".

Tibet

Recently, a colleague of mine went backpacking in Tibet for 'bout a month. When he came back to work , instead of tiredness, I noticed a glow of freshness on his face. I wonder why.....

As I looked through the pictures he took during the trip, I finally got the answer. The sceneries in Tibet and places he went are simply magnificient!!! Looking through the pictures he took with his manual SLR camera, a sudden peace and joy dewl in my heart as I was deeply under pressure at that point of time. I realise that I can't hide myself in front of monitor all the time... I need to get some fresh air and sunlight! I need a long holiday to get myself re-charged. However, if given a choice, I won't choose tibet or china, not that the scenery is not good, it's just that i can't imagine myself using an open-air toilet with no flush... hehehe

Wanna have a look at those breath taking photos?? Check them out at http://www.flickr.com/photos/1979isfuture/

Darrel, thanks for sharing them!

Surprise for tai gao in KLIA

05 September 2006

Tai Gao came into office this morning to bid final farewell to everybody before she flies to Canada at nite. Huaaahhhh~~~~ This gal brought one big bag of "pao"s for us which is enough for a month's supply ehhh. As her car moving slowly away from my sight, my heart become heavier.Suddenly the thought of giving her a surprise by showing up in KLIA for her, came into mind.

We don't know what time exactly will she be in the airport. All we know is her flight is at bout 12 midnight. So, we estimate her check in time and plan to be there at 10.30pm.

Somehow we finish our dinner late.So by the time we set our journey to the airport, it's already 9.50pm. Along the way, there's some construction on the road...Looking at that situation, the chances of us reaching airport at 10.30pm is rather thin. While we're on the way to the airport, we give Tai Gao a call to tell her grandmatha story. In fact my intention is to check her exact location in the airport. Over the conversation, we find out that she gotta go into the departure hall in 10 min time...and we have at least another 20 min to reach there!!! So we start flying like mad along the highway. In the meanwhile, i text gene, who is already in the airport, asking him find tai gao and try to hold her for 10min before we arrive. Gene in his reply says they found tai gao but they dare not walk over as she is with a HUGEEEee bunch of friends! hahahaha....

Upon our arrival,we dash into the like a bullet. Never before in my life, i run like a soh poh in the airport....and also never before in my life, i am chasing after the flight. Finally we manage to see our beloved Tai Gao for the last 2 minute before we meet her again in 1 1/2 years time. Of course she cries like a "ham bao" as she departs. Tai Gao, don't cry la..... we love u!
